TRAPEZOIDAL LACQUER PENDANT // MULTILAYER URUSHI & SEA-SHELL STRATA
Price range: 39,00 € through 79,00 €
// CONCEPT & RECONSTRUCTION
Positioned at the threshold of biological mineralization and traditional polymer chemistry, this relic drop is built from repeated manual depositions of unrefined Asian lacquer (Urushi). Layer after layer of pigmented resin is slowly cured in dark, humid environments over months, embedding crushed marine shell plates before being hand-ground flush to reveal unexpected contours of color and luminescence.
Deconstructed from traditional vessel formats into unmounted, frameless fragments, the pieces can be acquired individually as asymmetric talismans or together as a balanced dual set. Every erosion pattern and mother-of-pearl fracture is structurally singular, permanently recording the manual friction of the lapidary process.
// CRAFTSMANSHIP & DETAILS
- Stratified Lacquer Body: Multiple layers of natural organic lacquer interlayered with genuine iridescent abalone shell fragments, hand-sanded with water stones to achieve a micro-convex glass finish without external varnish.
- Integrated Suspension Bore: Clean, unlined 1.5mm top aperture precision-drilled directly through the cured lacquer core, allowing frictionless pass-through for cordage, split rings, or fine-gauge silver ear wires.
- Double-Faced Topography: Obverse and reverse faces present distinct chromatic depths—one side dominantly layered with saturated peacock-blue resin, the other revealing contrasting mineral pigments and raw shell margins.
// EDITIONS & FINISHES
- Left Piece: Single fragment with an asymmetric silhouette tapering toward the right slope, highlighted by concentrated turquoise strata and micro-fractured shell inclusions.
- Right Piece: Single fragment featuring an inverted trapezoidal contour, revealing deep teal mineral pigments interlayered with organic copper-toned margin lines.
- Matching Pair: Both counterpart relics balanced as a complementary set of two, ideal for dual ear curation or modular pairing across garments and hardware.

// PACKAGING & SHIPPING
- Ships in reinforced, shock-absorbing packaging to ensure delicate components and tactile finishes arrive safe during international transit.
- Custom piece: Individually hand-assembled and inspected, dispatched within 7–10 business days.

* CARE NOTE: Natural Urushi forms an exceptionally durable, water- and acid-resistant polymerized surface once cured. To preserve the polished shell luster, avoid harsh abrasive impacts against metal edges and prolonged exposure to concentrated chlorine or solvents. Clean using a dry or lukewarm dampened microfibre cloth.

Fits my style well, minimalist but has character
Isla Cavendish –
Solid quality, the lacquer layers have depth.
Ashlyn Quinta –
Very smooth texture. Put it on a simple black cord as a neck pendant.

Bought the matching pair to make earrings. They look slightly asymmetrical which actually makes them feel more authentic and handmade 👍🏻
